Claim for Urgent G8 Warming Action

Some huge companies now urge the G8 to take global warming seriously. It is Planet Ark who is telling us this story today.

"We share the belief that climate change poses one of the most significant challenges of the 21st century," said moguls from multinationals including car maker Ford, airline British Airways, bank HSBC, electricity generator EdF and oil major BP.

  • I believe one reason why politicians don't take global warming seriously is the timeperspective involved. As unemployment rise and social benefit struggles, politicians always will get their votes from local issues. Gathering support against a global threat, isn't the easiest way to parliament.

Although there still has not been any report of flooding of cities or harbours dissapearing, the threat needs to be issued as fast as possible. So far the rich countries have been able to buy themselves out of polluting the world, buying quota from the poorest countries. This will only postpone the action needed.

Finally, Bush and USA needs to participate. The lack of concern about Mother Nature is a serious threat to every living creature and Earth.
